MIja Lou - Beauty In The Darkness

In creating Midnight Cinephile, I have opened up a gateway that has allowed me to meet some absolutely fantastic and interesting people....everything from film makers to artists to other horror fans.  It wasn't until I opened up a twitter account that I met a model named Mija Lou.  One day, I got a message telling me I had a new follower.  Being the nice guy I am, I always like to take the time and thank the people that actually show interest in what I do.  I sent Mija a tweet simply saying "Thank you for following."  Flash forward a few months and we talk on a fairly regular basis.

Over the course of these past few months, as I've gotten to know Mija, I've discovered she is a truly passionate and driven soul who marches to her own drum.  An aspiring alternative pin-up model with a passion for our beloved horror genre, music and tattoos.  A visit to her Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/MijaLouPage) and I was a fan.  Not only is Mija absolutely stunning, but there is a genuine honesty to her that you can't help but admire and respect.

Mija has graciously allowed me to share some of her photos from a horror themed photoshoot that she did with photographer Jasmina Kovacevic:

Now, I'm sure you must be just as curious about this beguiling beauty as I was when I first saw her.  So I will allow Mija to tell you about herself in her own words:

My name is Mia.
My model name is Mija Lou.
I have been modeling since the start of this year (2012). I do alternative and pinup modeling. I am still an aspiring model, but already, I achieved a lot more than I was expecting which is pretty awesome!
I am soon to be internationally published and you may know me from the talented Piers Hazell's zombified Mija Lou drawings.  [You can see Piers' Zombie Mija drawings on her Facebook Page!]

I was born on a cold February afternoon in 1991.  My mother says that I was a special child. I could walk very early, and lost my first teeth when I was 4 years old (The natural way) and at some point I was deaf for a time.
But I was very charming and French men loved me. Haha!

I'm from the little town of Billund, Denmark, which is called The Children's Capital. It's where LEGO was invented! So YES, I have worked in LEGOLAND and at the airport. Haha. But it's a good town to grew up in and I still live there.

Growing up in a family that's very interested in music and likes to party, I have learned  a lot about music and how to be a free spirit.
Yes my family parties hard! From my grandparents to my parents, so we have a special bond.
Other than that, I have three siblings. An older sister, an older brother and a little brother, so I'm a middle child.

In school I was the awkward one. I had my very close friend all of these years luckily, and we went through school with a special bond. I always felt very different from the others, and didn't seem to fit in.  That taught  me to be strong and embrace my look and personality.

Here's a cute story: One day my classmates teased me when we were little. They said I looked like a rabbit (I had big fronth teeth) so I just said to them "I don't look like a rabbit! I look like my guinea pig Pjuske! (In English "Fluffy")" And they never teased me again! Hahaha!

I now go to business school here in Denmark. I play football/soccer and have played for 11 years now. I'm a striker on the field. I started out playing with boys so I'm not affraid of getting down and dirty!
I have played theater when I was younger as well. Always been told I was good at it, but I don't do it anymore.
I like to paint when I have time and inspiration. I'm the artistic type.

Random facts about me:  I actually wanted to be a rabbit when I grew up when I was little! One of my pet peeves is people sneezing or coughing. I have won 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the Grand Prix Rhythm Gymnastics.
 I'm a country girl.
 My favorite music are oldies.
I have anxiety. I like to sing and dance.
I'm a Lord Of The Rings freak.
 I like to dress up.

You can find Mija listed in The Alternative Model Directory listed under Northern European Models.  She is also going to be appearing in the October and November issues of The Poetic Pinup Revue.  Also check out Wretched Production's Horror Hottie competition and vote for her!
