Lovecraftian Horrors in High Altitude

In the upcoming film Altitude, a rookie pilot and her friends take to the skies for a joy ride, when a freak malfunction takes control of the plane, causing it to climb uncontrollably.  As if this isn't ass-puckering enough for these poor kids, there apparently is also some Lovecraftian monster in the clouds just itching to get it's tentacles on them.  The film stars Jessica Lowndes, Julianna Gull, Ryan Donowho, Landon Liboiron and Jake Weary.  While some of the cast appears to have been taken from the CW crowd (Lowndes, Donowho), there also seems to be some notable horror performances on these resumes (Guill in Friday the 13th '09, Lowndes in the Masters of Horror Episode:  Dance of the Dead).

The poster that is currently making the web rounds is nothing short of fantastic.  Is simplicity itself, but it tells me everythign that I need to know....let's take a look:

Ominous storm clouds?   Check
Giant Cthulhuesque Monster?  Check
Dude about to be snatched by said monster?  Check

There is also a few trailers circulating the web.  You can see two of them here:

Apparently these trailers are just promo pieces used in the festival circuits to garner attention for the film and as such will not reflect the finished film itself.

I find the concept of this film to be quite intriguing.  On one hand, you've got the claustrophobia of being stuck in the plane's cabin.  On the other hand, there is the hopelessness of being stranded out in the middle of nowhere....quite literally.  Stuck in an endless climb into the clouds......persued by an unimaginable horror.  I really hope that this film lives up to it's premise, because damn if it isn't one of the more original ideas I've heard in some time!  This seems like it's going to be one of those movies where there's no happy ending for the characters.  I like those films every now and then.  It serves to remind us that life isn't always about happy endings.
